This weekend saw the culmination of the World Athletics Indoor Championships which were held this year in Nanjing, China. They took place just two weeks after the European Indoor Championships, giving the athletes a very quick turnaround between the two.
The weekend saw some incredible performances full of determination and fighting spirit! Both Amber Anning and Georgia Hunter-Bell bounced back from their disappointment at the Europeans to secure medals for Team GB, with Anning winning a stunning gold in the 400m and Hunter-Bell racing to a brilliant bronze in the 1500m. Anning was crowned World Indoor Champion and is among the favourites to take the title outdoors this summer.
Some other exciting British performances were seen in the 60m and the pole vault. Molly Caudery vaulted her way to fourth place and, despite her disappointment at not defending her title from last year, I am sure this will only fuel her for the upcoming outdoor season. Amy Hunt finished in fifth position in the 60m final and will look to get among the medals when the distance increases to 100m outdoors.
Now, we must wait and see what the World Championships later this year in Tokyo have in store!

She won the first race of the whole season, earning 25 crucial points, while her teammate Chloe Chambers picked up 18 points for finishing second, just 0.206 seconds behind! Maya Weug from MP Motorsport earned 15 points for third place.
The second race was won by Dorlane Pin from PREMA Racing: starting from the front row, she took the lead earlyand maintained it throughout, crossing the finish line with a comfortable margin and earning the full 25 points. Maya Weug continued her impressive form, securing 18 points for second place, while Chloe Chambers demonstrated consistency by claiming 15 points for third.
With the points system in play, even a single strong race can change the leaderboard completely, making every weekend a must-watch!
